13 Things I Saw Sailing for the First Time

Wreck Beach: Coffee + Donut

Wreck Beach is a nude beach on the west coastline below UBC.  It's pretty isolated because you have to climb down a giant, winding set of uneven stairs.  I was silently scoffing all the people we passed huffing and panting up the stairs while we were on our way down, but I was way less judgemental on the way back up.  Sucks to my assmar and a truly bloated confidence in my own athletic ability.

33 Acres

I like most of the breweries I've visited since we moved to Vancouver, but I love 33 Acres. It's an bright, clean space and has a visual palette of white, wood, and metal with some greenery thrown in.   Against my will, I make a deep connection with someone every time I'm there. Sometimes it's the staff, other times I wind up bonding with a stranger.

Our First Vancouver Apartment

Wet Kissers

In September, right after we moved here, Warren and a few of his dudes hauled off to New York for a skatecation. Some of the photos Warren shot from the trip (and an interview from a couple of the guys who slaved on the Wet Kissers video all year) can be found over on the Concretewebsite. The skate wives are super proud of these guys and totally forgive them for leaving us behind in Canada while they lived out their NYC fantasies.

Derrick Fast, artist and chill dude.

Seattle With Mo

While Warren was in NYC with his skate dudes purging himself of any future skate desires (they skated a LOT), Michelle and I went on a road trip to Seattle to visit all her favourite places at the Public Market.

Early Thoughts on Vancouver

I've been putting of this post for a while. I didn't kid myself that the transition from life in Edmonton to Vancouver it would be easy or predictable, but the last month has riddled my expectations with surprises.

We left a huge and lonely apartment behind and drove through an a drizzly mess of prairies and mountains.  We hopped out of the car a few times to take photos but it was mostly a rush to set up in our new space. For the last month I'd been living in a disaster of a half-packed apartment and Warren had been living in Vancouver on our friends' floor.

I just like his face.

Alberta Bucket List

We're not dying, but there are a few things we'd like to experience before we vacate the prairies:

1. Visit the Muttart Conservatory

Peace Out, Edmonton

After three years of domestic purgatory in Edmonton, these two hunnies are packing up and scootin' to Vancouver.

Get pumped.

If you could get us jobs and a place to live, that would be cool, too.

Trip To Vancouver

A few weeks ago Warren and I drove to Vancouver for a week of vacation.

Three Boars Eatery

Edmonton has an adorable new restaurant that just opened up by our house.  Three Boars has the most unreal assortment of fresh and scrumptious things to share with your favourite humans. Warren and I destroyed some crispy little foie gras, a poutine with three kinds of bacon (!), and a tiny s'more cake that was baked into a cup with homemade marshmallow. (I love marshmallows.)

Plus the lighting is delicious, too.

Sleepy May Weekend

Today has been such a sweet, drowsy day.  Perfect for tea and a waffle.

Late Night Picnic

I stayed home with a migraine today, and by the time I woke up (supper time, woof), it was chicken nugget time.  It's still too cold outside for a real-life picnic, so we made do in the bedroom.

Gotta use that picnic blanket we got as a wedding present somehow.

To celebrate my 1O1st post, I'm going to show you the five year old I live with:

Some of his favourite things include:

1. Going fast

2. Eating chicken nuggets

3 Getting dirty.

children (of the corn)

Warren and I get asked pretty (very) frequently if we are having kids yet.  And this blog is the first thing that pops into my head when I get asked that question.

it's hard being two
